I used this drive to replace the 5400rpm, 120gb drive that came in my 2008 macbook pro (3,1)--not the unibody. I read a lot of reviews--I was originally considering getting a WD drive or a seagate (a similar, 7200rpm 500 gb model) but I read a lot of reviews that suggested that those drives were unreliable. I decided to go with Hitachi because I had heard good things about it. I've had this drive in my computer for about a month--I've had no problems, read/write times are substantially faster. It might have been my that my old drive wasn't so great, but this one isn't any louder at all, and I barely notice a power consumption difference. What I'm saying is--if you've got a macbook, this is the drive to get. I know it's more expensive, but it's worth it.
